SAMCO's ambition: Taking Egypt's infrastructure expertise across the continent

African governments are rapidly modernising their infrastructure, prompting Egyptian construction firms to expand overseas. Leading among these is SAMCO, a firm that has built Egypt's infrastructure for decades and now seeks to be a major force across Africa and the wider Middle East. The company's expansion targets markets ranging from Uganda to Iraq, driven by the continent's booming infrastructure needs.

SAMCO's vice chairman, Ibrahim Mabrouk, highlights Africa's significant growth potential, noting the need for roads, airports, and cities. Egypt's recent infrastructure boom provides a strong foundation for SAMCO's international push. The domestic market has been a proving ground, equipping the company with experience and capabilities essential for global projects.

While approximately 85% of SAMCO's current business remains domestic, international operations are expanding rapidly, expected to grow further as the company penetrates more African markets. Uganda's sports complex construction, including a stadium and transportation infrastructure, exemplifies SAMCO's current African focus. SAMCO also seeks opportunities in the DRC and is exploring road projects in Cameroon.

The company's strategy extends across West, East, and Central Africa, positioning itself to benefit from the continent's burgeoning infrastructure sector. SAMCO's leadership anticipates a surge in global investment, driven by Africa's abundant resources, youthful population, and governments' development visions.
