S. Korea Wins First Asian Games Gold in Women’s Badminton Doubles in 24 Years

Indian shooter Neeru Dhanda has achieved a historic feat by winning the gold medal in the women's individual trap event at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya. The 26-year-old displayed remarkable composure on the shooting range to claim the top position and add another major international title to her burgeoning list of accomplishments.

Dhanda entered the final with confidence, having topped the qualification standings. She had been in exceptional form throughout the competition, finishing jointly at the top after the opening rounds before taking sole lead on Monday with an aggregate of 95 after four rounds. Her consistent performances secured her a place in the eight-shooter final.

This victory marks Dhanda's first individual gold medal for India at the Asian Games. She is currently the reigning Asian champion and had entered the continental competition as one of India's leading medal contenders following her triumph at the World Cup.
