PM lauds Malaysian contingent on best WorldSkills showing since 1995

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 29 — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim praised the Malaysian team for their outstanding performance at the WorldSkills Competition (WSC) held in Shanghai 2026. This was the country's best ever showing in the competition, since 1995. Anwar highlighted that the national team of 22 young individuals had won one bronze medal and 13 Medals for Excellence, bringing great honor to Malaysia.

In a Facebook post, he extended his congratulations to these youths for their remarkable prowess and skills in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Anwar also singled out Sia Xin Wan, who secured a bronze medal in Software Testing and was awarded the Best of Nation prize. The Malaysian delegation, comprising 22 participants, competed in 21 skill categories across various technical sectors during the WSC Shanghai 2026, which took place from September 22 to 27.

The competition drew 1,400 young professionals from 65 countries and regions, all vying for excellence in 64 different skill areas. This achievement underscores the prime minister's belief that these young professionals are the pride of their nation.
