PH rules out cooperation with BN for Melaka polls

Kuala Lumpur - The Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition has ruled out cooperation with Barisan Nasional (BN) for the upcoming 16th Melaka state election, according to Amanah communications director Khalid Abdul Samad. PH maintains that it will not accept any offer to align with BN and remains open to collaborating only with other parties outside BN and Perikatan Nasional (PN). The decision comes after BN failed to make progress in negotiations during discussions with PH and Bersatu leaders.

During a closed-door event in Melaka, senior PH and Bersatu leaders reportedly met to discuss electoral cooperation for the state polls. Khalid, a former Federal Territories minister, emphasized that PH and Bersatu must agree on principles such as performance, integrity, and values before considering any pre-election alignment. The coalition has stated that they have options for forming an alliance and can outline necessary conditions and assertions.

In terms of seat allocations for the Melaka election, negotiations among PH component parties have already been concluded. The final decisions will be announced once the Election Commission sets the election date. Should new partners join, they will negotiate directly with the designated component party for those specific seats.
