Rakyat Malaysia, particularly the elderly, are warned to avoid falling prey to a "scam" regarding a free medication distribution program called the UMP, according to the Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil. The program aims to distribute free medications to approximately 87,000 patients per month, with a budget of RM5 million, in collaboration with the Communication and Multimedia Authority (SKMM) and the Ministry of Health.

Fahmi emphasized that the only legitimate way to register for the UMP is through the Ministry of Health's (KKM) free facility, and there is no process for registration through social media platforms like TikTok or Facebook. "The registration of the medication via post is through the KKM's facility, not through any TikTok or Facebook account," he told the media after the launch of the UMP funding initiative at the Communications Ministry, where Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad was also present.

He advised the public to be cautious of individuals attempting to take advantage of the initiative's progress. The UMP will be implemented nationwide, with the government fully covering the costs of delivering medications to around 87,000 patients monthly. SKMM and KKM are working together to achieve this goal.
