OpenAI Dots has its own little guy mascots to rival Meta Muse

Less than a week after Meta introduced its cheerful mascot Jolly for the Muse AI assistant, OpenAI has announced its own always-on AI agent called Dots. Dots are customizable, colorful little characters that users can select from various options, each with unique appearances such as glasses, headphones, and bow-ties. They are powered by GPT-6 Astra and come with their own cloud computer, learning from feedback over time to work towards users' goals around the clock.

OpenAI describes Dots as an extension of the user, learning how they think and what good work looks like to them. They can be messaged via ChatGPT, Slack, Teams, or voice calls. Users can access Dots' cloud computer, inspect the code, and set rules for when the agent can act independently or require approval. While Dots are designed to be user-friendly and trustworthy, OpenAI warns that they still require supervision, especially for sensitive tasks. The company emphasizes that users should always review consequential work produced by Dots.
