NRM presidential candidate pledges to tackle insecurity

Esther Okereke, the presidential candidate of the National Rescue Movement, pledged to tackle Nigeria's issues of insecurity, hunger, unemployment, and hopelessness if elected in the 2027 general elections. Inaugurating the party’s Presidential Campaign Council, Okereke described the event as the beginning of a "rescue team" for the country.

She emphasized that politics should focus on sharing prosperity rather than power, and that campaigns should be structured, evidence-based, and focused on peace. Okereke highlighted the NRM's commitment to addressing the country's challenges, stating that Nigeria needs rescue from darkness, hunger, insecurity, joblessness, and hopelessness.

The party's principles include legality, constitutionalism, accountability, transparency, unity, peaceful participation, and the rule of law. The campaign council, chaired by Prince Chinedu Obi and co-chairman Okereke, operates from the national level down to the polling units, with various directorates, zones, states, local government areas, and wards.

The National Chairman of the NRM, Chinedu Obi, emphasized the party's vision for Nigeria, noting its vast human, natural resources, and potential for development, but also acknowledging the need for stronger institutions, accountability, and effective leadership.
