Nortje and Rabada to be assessed during Proteas camp ahead of Australia Tests

Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada, two key pace bowlers for the South African cricket team, are set to undergo assessments during the Proteas' upcoming camp ahead of the three-Test series against Australia. Rabada's availability is still uncertain, as he is also recovering from an injury. However, the Proteas have scheduled a two-day intra-squad game next week to assess whether he is ready for the upcoming Tests. Conrad emphasized that the decision will be based on thorough analysis of Rabada's physical and mental condition, as well as his ability to match the intensity required for a Test match. The coach reiterated that the team aims to make decisions wisely and not under any sense of desperation.

Meanwhile, in-form Dolphins batter Marques Ackerman, who has been in outstanding form for the South African A team over the past year, has also been picked in the squad and could make his Proteas debut. Conrad expressed his excitement for Ackerman's potential inclusion, stating that it is long overdue for him to get a chance. He mentioned that Ackerman has been knocking on the door for a long time and fully understands the situation.
