NFL Week 3 QB Power Rankings: What is Going on With Drake Maye?

Week 3 of the NFL season brought about dramatic shifts in the power rankings, with seven underdog teams turning the tables and securing victories. As the rankings for the league's 32 starting quarterbacks are released, a closer look is given to quarterback Drake Maye and his performance thus far in the season.

Drake Maye, the quarterback for the New England Patriots, has found himself in the lower ranks of the power rankings. Since last year's MVP runner-up, Maye's performance has been disappointing, with a 1:6 TD to INT ratio, indicating a lackluster performance on the field. His 2026 stats show a 63.8% completion rate, 585 passing yards, and 82 rushing yards, with 1 touchdown and 6 interceptions.

Despite these struggles, Maye's position as the starting quarterback for the Patriots remains uncertain. Jameis Winston, who is likely to be replaced by J.J. McCarthy soon, has also been one of the worst quarterbacks in the league through three weeks. With a 51% completion rate, 229 passing yards, and 1 touchdown, Winston's performance has been abysmal, with a 6:1 TD to INT ratio.

Notably, Kyler Murray of the Minnesota Vikings has also faced scrutiny. With 52.9% completion, 186 passing yards, and 26 rushing yards, Murray's performance has been questioned, even as Carson Wentz looked better in his two starts. As Minnesota needs to keep winning, Murray's play has come under the microscope.

Justin Herbert, quarterback for the Los Angeles Chargers, has also seen minimal success this season, with a 59.1% completion rate, 627 passing yards, 48 rushing yards, 3 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions. His lack of scoring and poor offensive support might lead to trade conversations during the deadline.

Malik Willis from the Miami Dolphins has also had a mixed performance. While not actively losing games, Willis' 57% completion rate, 627 passing yards, 101 rushing yards, 2 total touchdowns, and 2 interceptions have not provided the offensive firepower the team needs. With the loss of his offensive weapon due to a torn ACL, life isn't getting any easier for Willis and the Dolphins.

Baker Mayfield of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who recently signed a massive extension, has struggled this season. With a 63.5% completion, 615 passing yards, 65 rushing yards, 3 total touchdowns, and 2 interceptions, Mayfield's play has been poor, throwing two interceptions and fumbling the ball three times. His recovery from a dislocated thumb will allow him to rest and hopefully return rejuvenated.
