Nets' Sean Marks speaks on opportunity to be had this NBA season

The team entered the 2026 offseason with the objective of enhancing their roster during the ongoing rebuild. General Manager Sean Marks provided insights into the direction of the franchise during his Media Day press conference.

Marks expressed excitement about adding youth to the team and witnessing their development, stating that the players needed motivation akin to what they experienced in NBA games. He highlighted the physical advantage of the younger players, noting that the group from the previous two years did not require additional motivation. Marks emphasized that the primary goal of the rebuild was to identify players capable of guiding the Nets into the next phase of the organization.

The front office intends to focus on the development of rookies like Egor Demin (No. 8 overall pick in 2025) and Mikel Brown Jr. (No. 6 overall pick in 2026) as the starting backcourt, which is promising for Brooklyn. Marks reiterated that patience is crucial for the younger players' improvement, aligning with the broader goal of the team to compete in the playoffs as soon as possible.
