Mumbai Drug Bust: Farsan Packets Used To Conceal Ketamine Worth ₹37.17 Crore, 2 Held In Thailand-Bound Smuggling Case

Mumbai police have apprehended two individuals involved in an international drug smuggling ring that smuggled ketamine worth ₹37.17 crore to countries like Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar and Malaysia. The duo, Adnan Ahmed Niyaz Ahmed Siddiqui and Saud Mushtaq Maniyar, were caught near the Airport Metro Station in Andheri East on September 24-25, attempting to smuggle 12 kg and 390 grams of ketamine concealed in food-packets.

The police allege the men had hidden the drugs in aluminum packets to avoid detection by scanners. The accused, who hail from Mazgaon East and Girgaon respectively, were part of a gang that targeted tourists and facilitated the smuggling process, often providing them with visas and false promises of returning with gold. The gang has been active for months, using food packets to conceal the drugs due to their ability to evade detection.

Authorities found 6 kg and 280 grams of white powder in Siddiqui's bag, along with two mobile phones, and 6 kg and 110 grams of a crystalline substance in Maniyar's bag, also resulting in the seizure of his mobile phone.
