Mumbai Crime Branch Arrests 28-Year-Old Uttar Pradesh Man With Pistol, 14 Live Cartridges In Cotton Green

Mumbai, September 29, 2026: The Mumbai Crime Branch s Property Cell apprehended a 28-year-old man for illegally possessing a pistol, an extra magazine, and 14 live cartridges near BPT Compound on Barrister Nath Pai Marg in Ghodapdev, Cotton Green, on Monday evening. Nandlal Muneshwar Prajapati, hailing from Ambedkar Nagar in Uttar Pradesh, is the accused in this case.

He was caught by the Property Cell following a tip-off about someone arriving in the Cotton Green area to sell a firearm. The operation was conducted with the oversight of senior police officials, and two independent witnesses were present. The police team intercepted a man matching the description provided by the informant, who was carrying a black backpack.

Upon confirmation of the suspect's identity, police conducted a search of the backpack, leading to the discovery of the illegal firearm and ammunition. The seized items included a silver-colored pistol marked "32 BORE BARETTA," an extra magazine, 14 live cartridges, identification documents, financial cards, and cash. The accused failed to produce a valid license for the firearm.

The police have registered a case under the Arms Act and Maharashtra Police Act, with the investigation ongoing to uncover the origin of the items and the accused's intentions.
