Mother and daughter found dead after pickup swept away in Kanchanaburi

Kanchanaburi — On September 27, 2026, a pickup truck carrying a mother and her 12-year-old daughter was washed away by strong floodwaters in the Ban Huai Suea area of Chalae subdistrict, Thong Pha Phum district. The vehicle was carried into a swift current on a road at around 5:00 PM. Two men managed to escape, but the woman, aged 55, and her daughter were swept away by the rushing water.

Rescue efforts, involving officials, rescue workers, national park staff, and local residents, continued until 10:00 PM that evening, but were halted due to the darkness and hazardous flood conditions. The search was restarted on September 28, with a temporary command center set up in the isolated region, where communication signals were unreliable.

At approximately 3:00 PM, the discovery of the girl's body was made beneath tree branches, about 300 meters from the initial incident. The mother's body was found under a large branch, roughly three hours later, situated around 10 meters from the girl's remains. Both bodies were transported to Thong Pha Phum Hospital for further examination before being returned to the family for religious ceremonies early on September 29.
