Man City found guilty of all charges of financial rule breaches, Premier League confirms

Manchester City has been found guilty of all charges related to serious breaches of the Premier League's financial rules between the 2009/10 and 2017/18 seasons, according to a statement released by the league on Tuesday. The charges were brought against the club in February 2023, following a four-year investigation. The club announced it would appeal the decision, claiming that the opinion contains clear material errors in terms of law, principle, and fact.

An independent commission found Manchester City to have arranged "sham" contracts with commercial partners, misrepresented agreements, and used schemes to artificially inflate revenues and reduce costs by more than £900 million over the affected period. The league's chief executive, Richard Masters, stated that the club systematically broke Premier League Rules for nearly a decade.

Manchester City, who deny the allegations, called the commission's opinion "unsafe" and said they are prepared to pursue appeal avenues.
