Lions Linked to Blockbuster Trade for Joey Porter Jr. as Secondary Concerns Grow

The Detroit Lions might be considering a move to bolster their secondary, according to reports. The team has reportedly contacted the Pittsburgh Steelers about the availability of cornerback Joey Porter Jr. Dallas Cowboys have also reportedly shown interest. However, it's worth noting that no formal offer has been made by Detroit, and Pittsburgh is believed to want significant compensation before moving the 26-year-old.

Joey Porter Jr., a second-round pick from Penn State in 2023, has started 41 games over his first three NFL seasons. Standing at 6-foot-2, he possesses the size and physicality to match up against bigger receivers. He has recorded 31 passes defended and three interceptions throughout his career. In 2025, he started 14 games, establishing a career-high with 14 passes defended.

Pittsburgh might not be willing to give Porter away easily, as he is entering the final season of his rookie contract. This would necessitate considering what comes next financially for the acquiring team. Additionally, Porter has been dealing with a back issue and has not played during this season.
