Lee says success of 3 megaprojects depends on creating right living conditions

Seoul, September 29 (Yonhap) -- President Lee Jae Myung emphasized Tuesday that the success of the government's megaprojects, focused on semiconductor and AI industries, hinges on crafting appropriate living conditions for workers and their families. During the third public-private meeting on the initiative's progress, held at Cheong Wa Dae, Lee underscored the importance of creating these conditions, which he deemed crucial to the projects' success.

The megaprojects aim to attract young talent and distribute growth benefits across all regions of South Korea. Lee further explained that the projects should be approached as a combined plan, involving the construction of industrial complexes and living areas equipped with housing, education, medical services, and cultural amenities.

He also stressed the necessity of reassuring local residents that the introduction of advanced strategic industries will positively impact their lives. Lee reiterated the urgency of advancing the plan without delays, with a clear sense of purpose, stating that the Republic of Korea's future will be shaped by the success of these megaprojects.

He also highlighted the need to clearly define individual responsibilities and jointly manage the overall timeline to avoid investment delays and proactively address potential obstacles.
