Kebbi Govt backs new Army formations, seeks public support against banditry

The Kebbi State Government has welcomed the Nigerian Army's establishment of new military formations in the region, viewing it as a significant enhancement to security operations. Commissioner for Information and Culture, Yakubu Ahmed BK, stated that this move would bolster security efforts and enhance the response to emerging threats within Kebbi and its neighboring territories.

The Army has recently introduced several new formations, including the 28 Armoured Brigade and the Garrison in Birnin Kebbi, along with the 281 Tank Battalion in Yauri and the 381 Artillery Regiment in Kaoje. Ahmed emphasized that the increased military presence would enable security forces to respond more effectively to issues such as banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities that have adversely impacted communities across the state.

He assured the public that the state government remains committed to collaborating closely with security agencies in their endeavors to safeguard lives and property. Moreover, Ahmed called upon residents to extend their support to security forces by delivering accurate information regarding the activities, locations, and movements of bandits and other criminal elements.

He stressed that unwavering cooperation between the residents and security agencies is crucial to enhance intelligence gathering and bolster security throughout the state.
