Karachi mayor says FWO, CBC working with Sindh govt on road and water projects in DHA

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab announced on Tuesday that the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) and the Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) are collaborating with the Sindh government on road and water projects in Defence Housing Authority (DHA). These initiatives were unveiled during an interactive meeting with DHA residents on Saturday, where Wahab promised to construct a water pipeline from Dummlottee to Masjid-i-Ayesha on the outskirts of DHA phases 6 and 7.

The CBC is set to partner with the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) to deliver water directly to DHA residents' homes. According to Wahab, while the original project timeline was 18 months, authorities anticipate completion within 12 months, by September or October, ensuring a daily supply of 10 million gallons of water.

Wahab also shared that the FWO and Sindh government are jointly undertaking road projects to alleviate traffic congestion in DHA. An underpass or flyover is planned at the intersection of Khayaban-i-Ittehad and Khayaban-i-Hafiz, benefiting residents traveling to phases 6, 7, and 8 of DHA. Additionally, a flyover at the intersection of Khayaban-i-Shahbaz and Khayaban-i-Hafiz is in the works, with the local government finalizing the design next week.

To address traffic congestion on Khaliquz Zaman Road, a flyover will be built from II Chundrigar Road to the Bacha Party intersection, with the design to be finalized the following week. This will create a seamless roadway from [II] Chundrigar Road to Creek Club to Khayaban-i-Ittehad, avoiding traffic signals.

The mayor also addressed the Shahrah-i-Bhutto road, which has reduced traffic congestion but poses challenges for motorists in Qayyumabad. Wahab announced the extension of Shahrah-i-Bhutto towards Ayesha Manzil, connecting it to the expressway and providing an alternative route for residents.
