New text messages from days after alleged gang rape at Cornell University

New text messages obtained exclusively by CBS News New York reveal further details of the alleged gang rape at Cornell University. The messages, exchanged between the alleged victim, Jane Doe, and one of the defendants, were sent just two days after the incident. The messages show both parties express feelings of intoxication and remorse over the events.

Doe's attorney, Thomas Giuffra, confirmed that she exchanged texts with the defendant shortly after the alleged assault. Giuffra noted that Doe was traumatized and in denial following the assault, suggesting she might not have taken an aggressive tone if she wanted answers. He argued that the district attorney failed to fully follow up on the evidence.

Notably, none of the accused were arrested despite the new evidence. Giuffra also disputed the district attorney's interpretation of Doe's statement, stating it is not materially different from her claims in the civil lawsuit. Two other defendants in the lawsuit have also denied the allegations.
