Italy rebound in Turkey as France win late in Belgium

Paris reported on Italy's 4-1 victory over Turkey in the Bursa rain, which has lifted the team into contention in Nations League Group A1. France secured a 1-0 win in Belgium, thanks to a late goal by Michael Olise in the 88th minute, giving coach Zinedine Zidane his second victory of the tournament. Italy's Roberto Mancini made his return to manage the team, but his team was jeered by Roman fans after their opening loss at home to Belgium.

Italy dominated the first half in Turkey, scoring three goals, but made errors in their muddy goalmouth, resulting in the hosts scoring twice. Inter Milan's Alessandro Bastoni scored a remarkable goal, deflecting a cross into the roof of the net. Turkey's Baris Yilmaz scored a consolation goal in the 47th minute, which was followed by a goal from the same player but deemed offside.

The performance of Italy may alleviate pressure on Mancini, while putting additional pressure on his former club-mate Vincenzo Montella, who led Turkey to the quarter finals at Euro 2024 but finished bottom of their group at the World Cup. Elsewhere, Sweden won against Poland 3-1 in Sweden, Benjamin Nygren scoring the opening goal.

Bosnia and Herzegovina are second in Group 4 after a 4-2 win against Romania in Bucharest. Northern Ireland remained top in Group 2 after a 0-0 draw against Hungary, while Georgia and Ukraine also ended goalless against each other in Tbilisi.
