Indore-Dhar Rail Project Nears Completion; Four New Stations To Join MP Rail Map

The Indore-Dhar Rail Project is nearing completion, with four new railway stations set to join Madhya Pradesh's rail map. The 46-km railway section between Tihi and Dhar is almost ready for operations. Once operational, Pithampur, Sagour, Gunawad, and Dhar stations will be added to the network. The Railway Construction Department has sent the route and stations for inspection by the Commission of Railway Safety (CRS) on October 28-29. After CRS clearance, trains will begin running on the new section.

Dhar Station is receiving special attention, with its building designed to reflect the district's rich history and culture. The station will feature art depicting Dhar's heritage, including historic forts of Mandu and local traditions. This is expected to boost tourism and showcase the region's cultural identity.

Pithampur, a major industrial hub often called the "Detroit of India," will get direct rail connectivity through the new line. Thousands of workers, traders, and industries in the area are expected to benefit from improved passenger movement and freight transportation. The Sagour and Gunawad stations will enhance connectivity to nearby villages, helping farmers and residents reach major cities like Indore and Dhar more easily.

For Dhar district headquarters, which has been outside the railway network for decades, the project will be a significant change, supporting regional development. The project includes advanced safety features, such as a 2.976-km-long railway tunnel between Tihi and Pithampur, the longest in Madhya Pradesh. This tunnel features a ballastless track on a concrete base, 140 high-definition CCTV cameras, a public address system, and emergency SOS call boxes. After CRS inspection, the Railway Board will announce the train schedule.
