Hohoe flood: Over 700 residents seek shelter in classrooms, MP appeals for help

More than seven hundred residents of Hohoe in Ghana's Volta Region are seeking refuge in classrooms following flooding that has damaged or destroyed their homes, according to the region's Member of Parliament, Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpor. Speaking on Joy FM's Super Morning Show, Mr. Tsekpor reported that mud houses were among the most severely impacted.

The MP also noted that some displaced individuals have lost their personal belongings to the floodwaters. As of Monday, the figure of those living in temporary classroom shelters had reached seven hundred. The MP urgently called for assistance for the affected residents, many of whom are now depending on classrooms for immediate shelter.

"We want support immediately because our people are in a dire situation," he stated. In total, over three thousand residents have been displaced by the flood, with more than four hundred homes reportedly affected as the River Dayi breached its banks.
