Heavy vehicles to be diverted around Sepang during F1 Bahrain GP weekend

KUALA LUMPUR - Heavy vehicles and lorries will be rerouted at eight key checkpoints near the Sepang International Circuit during the Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix from October 2 to 4, 2026, according to Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar. The Selangor police Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department (TEID), in collaboration with the Road Transport Department (RTD), will oversee the diversion. Certain exceptions will only be made for critical cargo that has previously arranged alternate routes.

TEID will also establish five primary screening points for ticket and vehicle-pass inspections, situated at Kota Warisan towards Labohan Dagang, the KLIA Toll Plaza, the KLIA 1 exit towards Masjid Roundabout, Masjid Roundabout itself, and the Jalan Kuarters intersection near the Enstek traffic lights. These personnel will be on duty from 8am to 11pm for traffic control, patrolling, and enforcement across three zones: the inner zone within two kilometers of the circuit, the middle zone between three and five kilometers, and the outer zone covering areas six kilometers and beyond.

The public is advised to follow the instructions given by the personnel and refer to the digital information boards located around the circuit to ensure smooth traffic flow. The Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix Malaysia 2026 will take place at the Sepang International Circuit from October 2 to 4, with the primary race scheduled for October 4.
