Guinea-Bissau defeat Nigeria 3-0 in AFCON qualifier

Guinea-Bissau secured a 3-0 victory over Nigeria in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying Group L match at the 24 de Setembro National Stadium on Tuesday. Franculino Djú gave the hosts the lead in the 15th minute with a precise left-footed shot past Nigeria's goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali. Nigeria nearly equalized at halftime when Alex Iwobi's cross was headed towards the goal, but Guinea-Bissau's goalkeeper Embadjé made a crucial save.

The hosts took control after the break, doubling their lead through Mama Baldé in the 65th minute. Baldé capitalized on a pass from Mamadi Camará, slotting the ball into the net. Despite Nigeria making substitutions in an effort to narrow the gap, the Super Eagles failed to score. Ilenikhena came close to scoring in the 85th minute, but Embadjé thwarted his effort.

The winning goal arrived in stoppage time when Álvaro Djaló, receiving a through ball from Tamble Monteiro, finished with his right foot. This result leaves Nigeria with a challenging task in their qualifying campaign following their previous Group L match against Madagascar, which they won 2-1.
