Gov't allocates $4.8 mil. to replace prosecution logos, signs

The Ministry of Justice has allocated a budget of 6.5 billion won, equivalent to $4.8 million, to replace the branding and logos of 67 prosecution offices throughout South Korea. This funding will be used to remove existing Prosecution Service emblems, names, and other markings from both the exteriors and windows of prosecutors' offices, as well as related signage. The removal of these logos began on Monday at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office in Seoul's Seocho District and will continue across the nation.

As of this week, some regional offices, such as the Seoul Eastern and Southern District Prosecutors' Offices, have already transitioned to using the new Public Prosecution Service branding. The current prosecution service, which has been in operation for 78 years, is scheduled to be abolished on Friday. Upon its closure, its indictment functions will be transferred to the newly established Public Prosecution Service, while investigations will be conducted by police and a newly created Serious Crimes Investigation Agency.

This reform aims to separate investigative and prosecutorial functions within the criminal justice system.
