Fury vs Joshua: December Superfight Faces Fresh Trouble Before London Press Conference

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are set to clash in London on December 11 at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, as preparations for their highly anticipated heavyweight bout face new obstacles. The promotion of the event has recently seen disputes surrounding funding and anti-doping testing, casting doubt over the December fight. The fight, which has been years in the making, saw venue talks, contract issues, and promotional disagreements delay it multiple times.

Saudi boxing figure Turki Alalshikh confirmed Cardiff as the venue last week after Joshua’s team advocated for a UK location due to a contract clause. The fight will stream on Netflix with a UK broadcast start time to accommodate North American viewers. Alalshikh’s confirmation of the venue came after months of negotiations. Joshua’s team had pushed for a UK venue, while promoters had considered Madison Square Garden and other U.S. locations.

The fight will also feature the vacant WBA “super” heavyweight title, which Oleksandr Usyk vacated. Fury and Joshua have a history together dating back to their sparring sessions at Finchley Amateur Boxing Club in 2010. Fury, 38, returned from retirement this year, stopping Mariusz Wach in July, while Joshua, 36, defeated Jake Paul in December 2025 and knocked out Kristian Prenga in July.

Both have 66 wins, 52 knockouts, and multiple world title titles under their belts. No major belts are held by either fighter. The December fight remains one of the biggest scheduled boxing events, and the London press conference on Wednesday will provide the latest update on the situation.
