Fuel imports: We’re ready for court cases – Dangote

Dangote Industries' owner, Aliko Dangote, has stated he is prepared to face legal challenges to his businesses, including the possibility of reducing his ownership of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery to 25%. The company is set to begin construction of a 700,000-barrel-per-day refinery in Kenya's Lamu County despite a recent court ruling that ordered the status quo on a disputed plot of land.

Dangote believes the court ruling should not halt the project and is confident that the refinery will proceed as planned. He emphasized that his businesses have faced similar legal issues in other African countries, including a case in Senegal where a factory was shut down for a year. Dangote sees Kenya as an integral part of his group's expansion strategy, with the Lamu refinery project expected to create employment for over 60,000 people and attract additional businesses to the area.

The refinery may also list on the Nairobi Securities Exchange to promote African capital market development and democratize wealth-making by increasing African ownership in the company.
