Fifa accuses Uefa of ‘misinformation campaign’ in response to filing

FIFA president Gianni Infantino has expressed willingness to discuss the possibility of his organization providing millions of dollars in payments to member associations, according to a letter sent to the heads of the six confederations. The amount of these distributions will be a topic of discussion at the FIFA Council's meeting on October 15.

Infantino emphasized that he will not pre-judge the amount and will support the maximum level of additional funding that can be responsibly distributed through FIFA's governance process, ensuring fairness and transparency. UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin and CONCACAF president Victor Montagliani recently wrote a letter to FIFA, seeking such payments, along with Asian Football Confederation head Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa.

The proposal arises following calls by UEFA, CONCACAF, and the AFC for Infantino to resign over his plan to sell around 20% of FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), a new entity focused on the commercial and operational aspects of World Cup and other FIFA tournaments. This plan included Joshua Kushner, brother of President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, among its investors.

Despite abandoning the private equity plan, Infantino has not resigned and intends to run for re-election in March. The letter from UEFA and CONCACAF calls for every member association to receive a minimum of $10 million from FIFA's reserves, with the potential for each nation to receive at least $20 million if the FFE plan had proceeded.
