Infantino makes bigger cash pledge to Fifa members

Fifa president Gianni Infantino has pledged to potentially increase financial support for his organization's members, according to a letter addressed to the governing body's six continental confederations. The letter, obtained by BBC Sport, suggests that Infantino is open to delivering the maximum level of additional funding that can be responsibly distributed.

This comes after Uefa and Concacaf demanded that Fifa allocate $10m (£7.5m) to all 211 members from its reserves. Infantino has been under pressure due to his aborted Fifa Forward Enterprise (FFE) plan, which proposed selling stakes in World Cup and other competitions to private investors. The Swiss-Italian, who is seeking a fourth term as president in March 2027, did not specify a specific amount but stated that the figure could initiate the discussion, but not finalize a global policy.
