England’s Nations League withdrawals expose workload crisis, says PFA chief

PFA chief executive Maheta Molango has slammed the England national football team's withdrawal from the Nations League, stating that it highlights a broader issue of players being overworked. Manchester City defender Cole Palmer, along with Marcus Rashford, Declan Rice, Kobbie Mainoo, and Tino Livramento, were among those who withdrew from the squad.

Molango highlighted the situation as a cause for alarm, noting that when elite players like Palmer miss out on national team duty, it points to a significant problem within the industry. The PFA and global players' union FIFPRO have long warned of an unsustainable football calendar, with Molango emphasizing that the current withdrawal of players like Palmer, Kylian Mbappe, Kai Havertz, and Brian Brobbey is part of a wider trend affecting top football talent.

Molango called for governing bodies to shift their focus from making money to preserving the game and prioritizing player welfare.
