2027 AFCONQ: Black Stars need strong mentality and character to beat The Gambia, says Agyemang Badu

Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agemang Badu has emphasized that the Black Stars must demonstrate a strong mentality and character to secure a victory against The Gambia in their upcoming Group C fixture during the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. The match will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 29, following the Black Stars' 2-0 defeat to Ivory Coast in their opening qualifier.

Speaking to Lawson TV, Badu expressed concerns about the current squad's lack of experienced players in crucial positions. He noted that the team has changed, is suffering from inexperience, and is depleted, specifically mentioning Kwasi Sibo and Caleb Yirenkyi as the only experienced midfielders left. Badu acknowledges the challenging nature of the upcoming match but remains optimistic that Ghana can emerge victorious through strong mentality and character.

He reiterates the need for the team to secure a positive result to turn their campaign around after failing to qualify for the previous AFCON edition held in Morocco. The match is scheduled to kick off at 16:00 GMT.
