Did Notre Dame make the right move with Ohio State WR transfers?

As the 2026 season progresses, it has become clear which transfer players have made significant impacts for Notre Dame. However, two highly-rated wide receivers from Ohio State - Mylan Graham and Quincy Porter - have not proven to be that kind of player for the Irish. Both were considered top prospects when they arrived at Notre Dame, with Graham hailing from Fort Wayne and Porter from Bergen Catholic in New Jersey.

At first, it seemed like a logical move, considering how well Ohio State has produced elite talent at the position. Yet, it appears the move has not paid off for Notre Dame. Graham has managed just three catches for 32 yards so far this year, with no touchdowns to show for his efforts. Porter, on the other hand, has been unable to see action due to a knee issue, which has required multiple surgeries since the spring.

It seems clear that these two transfers have not lived up to expectations, and it remains to be seen if they can turn their careers around in South Bend. Notre Dame’s selection of transfers has been somewhat selective this season, with successful additions in defensive tackles Tionne Gray and Francis Brewu, as well as nickelbacks Jayden Sanders and DJ McKinney.

But for Graham and Porter, it appears they will be more of a long-term project than immediate impact players. Head coach Marcus Freeman announced Porter’s season-ending surgery on Monday afternoon.
