Curry Barker and Cooper Tomlinson’s ‘Anything But Ghosts’ Set for May 2027

Curry Barker, the director behind last year's hit "Obsession," is set to release his next film "Anything But Ghosts" in May 2027, according to a recent announcement on Instagram. The filmmaker will not only direct and co-write the movie but also star in it alongside co-writer Cooper Tomlinson. The film follows the story of two fraudulent paranormal investigators who find themselves in over their heads when hired by a frightened family to deal with actual ghosts haunting their home.

Other notable cast members include Bryce Dallas Howard, Aaron Paul, and Violet McGraw. The project is being co-produced by Blumhouse-Atomic Monster, with domestic distribution handled by Focus Features and international release managed by Universal. The film will join a strong start to the summer box office season, which will kick off with Sony Pictures' adaptation of the video game classic "The Legend of Zelda."

"Anything But Ghosts" will also share the first weekend of May with Lionsgate's "The Resurrection of the Christ — Part One," as well as Mel Gibson's sequel to "The Passion of the Christ." This is the second Blumhouse movie set for release in May, following the eighth installment of the franchise that launched the horror studio, "Paranormal Activity."

Paramount has scheduled "Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension" for release on May 21, ahead of Disney/Lucasfilm's "Star Wars: Starfighter" during Memorial Day weekend. "Obsession" has propelled Barker into one of the most sought-after names in horror, setting records for the highest-grossing film in Focus Features' history and the highest grossing festival acquisition of all time, with a worldwide gross of $519 million against a $15 million acquisition price and a $750,000 budget.
