Calling Tinubu names not an offence – Sowore

The African Action Congress presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections, Omoyele Sowore, has clarified that criticizing or referring to President Bola Tinubu by names is not considered an offence. During an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time, Sowore addressed questions and asserted that democracy guarantees every citizen the right to express themselves freely.

Sowore argued that calling the President names is not unique to Tinubu, as he himself has a history of name-calling, often referring to President Tinubu as "dead meat." He emphasized that under a democratic system, individuals should not face arrest or prosecution for voicing their opinions. If he were to be President, Sowore stated that he would fire any intelligence officer responsible for arresting someone for merely criticizing or calling the President names. This, according to Sowore, indicates a lack of intelligence on the part of the officer.
