Austin Hill must find speed to compete for O'Reilly championship

Austin Hill enters the Las Vegas round of the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series Championship with a challenging position. After a poor performance at Bristol, Hill trails behind his competitors with a deficit of 106 points. Currently, Hill stands at 2,129 points, putting him a step behind Sheldon Creed. This race serves as a crucial juncture where Hill must demonstrate his speed and agility to bridge the gap and compete for the championship.

Hill's 22nd-place finish at Bristol places him among competitors like Jesse Love and Rajah Caruth who are not in the top 20. This leaves Hill just two points behind Taylor Gray, who is ranked eighth. On top of that, Hill finds himself 14 points behind Corey Day and Sammy Smith, who are tied for ninth place.

However, Hill has some optimism for the Las Vegas race. He finished 10th in the same event back in March, earning 29 points and completing all 200 laps. A return to the top 10 would undoubtedly boost his morale, but the championship situation requires more than just a single strong performance. With six races remaining and over 100 points separating Hill from Creed, Hill must rely on accumulating points close to the front and achieving stage points to narrow the gap.
