Ashghal commences QR1billion Hamad General Hospital Development Project

Doha, Qatar: The Public Works Authority, known as Ashghal, has begun the Hamad General Hospital (HGH) Development Project in collaboration with the Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC). The QR 1.179 billion project aims to comprehensively upgrade the hospital's facilities, boost operational efficiency and safety, improve the healthcare environment, and deliver a range of medical services to high standards.

The project consists of phased development works, including a new Day Surgery Building, the remodeling of the Outpatient Tower and Main Building, renovation of the North and South Inpatient Towers, and upgrading various systems, services, and infrastructure. Acting Head of the Health Projects Section at Ashghal's Buildings Projects Department, Eng. Ahmed Al Emadi, emphasized that the project is a crucial initiative to modernize Qatar's healthcare infrastructure in coordination with HMC.

Head of Healthcare Facilities Development at HMC, Hamad Al Khalifa, highlighted that the hospital plays a vital role in the healthcare system, and upgrading its infrastructure is essential to ensure a safe and comfortable care environment for patients and staff. HMC will collaborate closely with Ashghal to safeguard hospital operations and services during the project.

Project Engineer, Eng. Maryam Al Marzouqi, confirmed that work has already begun and is expected to be finished by the third quarter of 2029. The project includes comprehensive development and modernization works, such as constructing a new Day Surgery Building, modernizing the Outpatient Tower and Main Building, renovating the North and South Inpatient Towers, and upgrading various systems, services, and infrastructure.

Leading sustainability standards will be applied throughout the design and construction phases, focusing on energy efficiency, water conservation, indoor environmental quality, and sustainable building materials.
