Ankush Panghal beats reigning world champ to get within a win of Asian Games boxing gold

Ankush Panghal, an Indian boxer, defeated reigning world champion Fazliddin Erkinboev to advance to the Asian Games boxing gold final. India's men's head coach, CA Kutappa, had analyzed Erkinboev's previous fights and devised a strategy for Panghal to exploit the Uzbek's weaknesses against southpaws. Panghal won the first round with left straight jabs and the second round with a combination of left cross and right hook, despite starting the fight relying solely on his left jab.

The Indian boxer then switched to a more aggressive style in the final round, winning it 5-0 and securing a spot in the gold medal bout. Meanwhile, Parveen Hooda, another Indian boxer, earned a spot in the Asian Games final after defeating China's Li Shu 5-0 in the 65kg class.
