Aaron Judge left off Yankees’ Wild Card Series roster vs Red Sox with calf injury

The Yankees' captain, Aaron Judge, was not included in the team's roster for the upcoming AL Wild Card Series against the Boston Red Sox due to a calf injury. Judge, who is the team's captain, had been attempting to convince manager Aaron Boone and the medical staff that he was ready to play. Despite taking part in live batting practice on Monday, Judge was ultimately left off the roster. He had played in only 66 games this season, due to a fractured rib from May to September and the current calf injury.

Giancarlo Stanton, who had been sidelined since April due to calf muscle issues, was included in the roster. Also making the roster was center fielder Trent Grisham. Judge's injury history includes a fractured rib from May to September 8, preventing him from playing in seven games. He managed to play 66 games this season, recording a .241 batting average with 18 homers, 41 RBIs, and an .871 OPS.
