Delaware high school football fans have a long-standing tradition of visiting stadiums to support their teams, whether it's sitting on a hillside or gathering around the stadium fences. Recently, a poll was launched asking readers to vote for their favorite stadium. The nominees were chosen based on Kevin Tresolini's ranking of the top 15 high school football stadiums in Delaware. The winner will be revealed on Friday, October 2.

Here are the nominees:

1. Rocco Abessinio Stadium, Salesianum: This 5,000-seat stadium, opened in 2020, offers a modern atmosphere thanks to a $16 million donation from Salesianum alum Abessinio. Salesianum, as well as Wilmington schools Howard and St. Elizabeth, share this stadium.

2. Cavalier Stadium, Middletown: Known for its narrow sidelines, this stadium provides an immersive experience, drawing large crowds and fostering community passion. Middletown's teams have a history of success here.

3. Coaches Field, Archmere: Archmere's field showcases a picturesque view, and it's the only Delaware high school where a future U.S. president once played football. Dover is within an hour's drive.

4. Dover Stadium, Dover: This state-of-the-art stadium was built when Dover High School opened in 2014. With its prime location, it attracts teams and fans from across the region.

5. Bob Dowd Stadium, Seaford: Though the Blue Jays' success has waned, Seaford's stadium still holds historical significance, attracting fans from two states.

6. Frances E. Nunvar Stadium, Delmar: Located near the Maryland border, this stadium attracts passionate fans from both states for Wildcats' games.

7. Bruce Reynolds Field/Bill Cole Stadium, William Penn: Although the Colonials are no longer a powerhouse, this stadium remains a formidable venue for competitive football.

8. Schollenberger Field, Laurel: This small-town stadium draws crowds, creating a home-field advantage for the Bulldogs. However, its capacity may limit the overall atmosphere.

9. Butch Simpson Field/Hoffman Memorial Stadium, Newark: As the first high school stadium in the area to install lights in 1987, this stadium has evolved into a great setting for big games.

10. Charles V. Williams Stadium, Smyrna: Smyrna's recent successes have made this stadium one of Delaware's most lively and crowded venues, with a spirited fan base that adds to the game day atmosphere.
