Weather department predicts heavy rain over Uttarakhand; respite likely in Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh

Mumbai experienced predominantly clear skies and humid weather on Monday as monsoon activity remained low across the city and suburbs. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted light rainfall at select locations throughout the day, with no rain warnings issued for Mumbai or nearby districts this week. According to the IMD, the city and its outskirts were expected to remain generally clear, with intermittent light rain showers.

Heavy rainfall was not anticipated, although isolated spots might face moderate to heavy showers with gusty winds. Wind speeds were anticipated to range between 40–50 kmph, with gusts potentially reaching up to 50–60 kmph during intense rain periods. The highest temperature for the day was expected to be around 32°C, while the lowest temperature recorded in the early morning was 27°C.

Despite the city experiencing intermittent monsoon activity, rainfall was projected to be limited to scattered areas rather than being widespread across Mumbai. In addition, Mumbai's overall Air Quality Index (AQI) had deteriorated from the "Good" range seen in recent months. On Monday morning, the AQI was recorded at 81, placing the city in the "Moderate" category.

An AQI ranging from 0 to 50 is considered "Good," while readings between 51 and 100 fall under the "Moderate" category. Levels between 101 and 200 are classified as "Poor," 201 to 300 as "Unhealthy," and readings above 300 as "Severe." As residents can expect humid conditions to persist throughout the day, light rain is likely in some areas, and gusty winds may accompany stronger showers.
