A 49-year-old woman in Kampar, Perak, has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of her 70-year-old mother, according to initial reports. The suspect, who was apprehended shortly after the incident occurred, has a psychiatric record, according to Perak Police Chief Alwi Zainal Abidin. The victim was discovered with a stab wound to the chest, having passed away around 7 pm the previous evening.

The police received the report from the victim's granddaughter, who informed them that the victim had recently returned from a medical facility for elderly patients in Pusing, where she was being cared for and seemed disoriented. Police stated that when they arrived at the scene, they found both the suspect and the victim inside the home.

Police preliminary investigation revealed the suspect's psychiatric history, according to Sinar Harian. The police will receive further reports from the hospital regarding the suspect's mental health status to aid their investigation. The suspect has been detained since October 4th to assist with the investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which pertains to murder.
