Vithya Ramraj beats PT Usha’s four-decade-old record for Asian Games bronze

Vithya Ramraj has etched her name in Indian athletics history by breaking PT Usha's 40-year-old Asian Games bronze record. At the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, she matched Usha's time of 55.42 seconds in the 400m hurdles, setting a record that had stood for four decades. On Monday, in Nagoya, she finally broke the record, finishing with a time of 54.75 seconds.

Usha, now the Indian Olympic Association president, praised the moment as a passing of the torch, saying that records are meant to be broken and inspire the next generation.
