US Centcom rejects IRGC claim of ‘complete control’ over Hormuz

US Central Command (Centcom) firmly rejects Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claim that Iran has "complete control" over the strategic Strait of Hormuz. In a post on X, Centcom categorically stated that "claims that Iran has full control over the Strait of Hormuz are false." The statement further asserted, "Iran has no navy because American forces sank it."

Centcom emphasized that approximately 1 billion barrels of oil have recently passed through the strait, which they argue demonstrates the lack of Iranian control over the waterway. The US military has been actively assisting in maintaining the free flow of commercial traffic through the strait while simultaneously enforcing a blockade against Iranian maritime trade, according to previously reported US official accounts.
