Ujjain: Part of Shahi Masjid being removed; police crackdown begins on social media creators

In Ujjain, members of the Muslim community are removing a portion of the historic Shahi Masjid that overlaps with the planned road-widening area, according to police spokesperson Pradeep Sharma. The police have intensified their efforts to identify those who contributed to the heightened tensions surrounding the site, with social media content creators among those arrested and an FIR registered against seven individuals.

Sharma stated that the mosque removal is ongoing with the mosque committee's consent, and the police have detained 15 people so far. The investigation is now focusing on social media posts, CCTV footage, and drone recordings to pinpoint those involved in the stone-throwing incident and the subsequent police confrontation on Monday morning.

Ujjain Collector Roshan Singh emphasized that the removal of the mosque section is voluntary and requested people to avoid rumors and refrain from visiting the site. Qazi Khalil Qureshi Rehman, who participated in the discussions with the administration, also appealed for people to stay away from the disputed area, noting that the matter was resolved through mutual agreement on Sunday night.
