UCC ‘Need Of The Hour’, Two Sets Of Laws Cannot Coexist In MP, Says CM Mohan Yadav

Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has declared the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) as the "need of the hour", emphasizing that two legal systems cannot coexist within a single nation and state. This statement followed the passage of the UCC Bill in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly in July.

Yadav's assertion was made during a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (Madhya Bharat Province) event held at Ravindra Bhavan, commemorating the birth centenary of Ashok Singhal, a former international working president of the organization. Speaking as part of a year-long campaign from September 27, 2026, to September 27, 2027, the Chief Minister outlined his vision for the UCC, stating that all citizens, regardless of their faith, would be subject to the same legal framework. He emphasized that practices such as polygamy would be prohibited across the state.

The event, which included ideological seminars, social harmony conferences, and community service activities, is part of the broader initiative to promote unity and harmony across India. Jaibhan Singh Pawaiya, a former national convenor of Bajrang Dal, echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the Ram Janmabhoomi movement as a pivotal moment in Indian history.

He praised the "Kar Sevaks" and the spirit of social harmony that emerged from communal gatherings, such as the communal meal shared at the home of Dom Raja in Varanasi, as symbols of India's strength and resilience.
