Two nabbed with 100 g of MDMA in Thiruvananthapuram

On Monday morning, two individuals were apprehended in Thiruvananthapuram with possession of nearly 100 grams of MDMA, as per the government's ongoing anti-drug campaign. This incident follows the seizure of 105 grams of MDMA from another duo in East Fort the previous day. The Thiruvananthapuram City District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF) made the arrest, identifying the suspects as Ananthakrishnan from Sreekaryam and Thomas from Thumba, near the Kovalam bypass. The duo were intercepted while attempting to smuggle the drugs in a vehicle.

Ananthakrishnan, according to police, has a history of criminal activity within the Sreekaryam police station limits. The suspects were allegedly attempting to sell the contraband in Kazhakuttam and surrounding areas of Technopark. Upon realizing they were being followed, the suspects allegedly tried to flee and collided their vehicle with a police car. The police team pursued the vehicle, ultimately intercepting the suspects and taking them into custody.

During the search, police discovered two packets of MDMA hidden inside the fuel tank lid of the car, and another packet concealed inside one of the accused's shoes. Earlier, on Sunday, an excise squad arrested two others, Akash from Kallambalam and Aravind from Chullimanoor, with 105 grams of MDMA. The contraband, officials claim, was transported from Bengaluru and intended for distribution in Kollam.

The two apprehended in Thiruvananthapuram arrived in the city by bus and were traveling on a two-wheeler towards Chullimanoor when they were caught. Authorities allege that the suspects intended to sell the narcotic substance to school and college students.
