Trump warns of possible new Iran strikes; Araghchi vows ‘doomsday war’ — but remains open to diplomacy

US President Donald Trump has warned that further military strikes against Iran are still possible before the midterm elections in November. Tehran has vowed to resist renewed attacks, as the confrontation over the Strait of Hormuz has intensified. Trump stated that additional military action was possible, while also predicting the war would end "very soon."

Preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon remains a central US objective, and Trump declined to rule out strikes before the November elections, stating, "I think what s going to happen is we re going to win the war very soon."

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi responded, saying Tehran was ready for a "doomsday war" but remained open to diplomacy. He told NBC's Meet the Press that Iran would stand firm against any new aggression. The Iranian Foreign Ministry claimed that the US had redirected 122 Iran-linked ships as of September 25, up from 109 on September 23 and 115 on September 20.

Meanwhile, Iran-linked ships have reportedly been targeted in the Strait of Hormuz, with Fars news agency reporting that 19 vessels were targeted on Friday and Saturday. However, these claims have not been independently verified. Iran's IRGC also claimed to have seized a second US underwater vehicle in the region. US and Iranian officials remain at odds over the sequence of concessions, with Iran seeking relief from the US blockade in exchange for reopening the Hormuz Strait, while the US demands assurances on Iran's nuclear program.
