Three traffic wardens martyred in Tank

PESHAWAR witnessed a tragic incident on Monday when three traffic wardens were killed and two civilians were seriously injured after unidentified assailants opened fire on a traffic police van in the Waziristan area of Tank. The victims, identified as Peer Khalid, Warden Gul Amin, and Warden Saleemullah, were lawfully enforcing traffic regulations.

Following the attack, security forces cordoned off the area and initiated a search operation to apprehend the gunmen. Shortly after the incident, a significant number of police personnel arrived at the scene to collect the deceased bodies and injured individuals and transport them to the Civil Hospital in Tank. The police have stated that an investigation into the matter is currently underway.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed his profound grief over the loss of three police personnel and condemned the attack by militants on the traffic police vehicle in Tank. Naqvi extended his condolences and sympathies to the families of the slain officers, assuring them that the nation salutes their sacrifices. He emphasized that the government stands firmly with the bereaved families and vowed that the sacrifices made in the fight against terrorism would not be in vain.

Earlier this week, a suspected suicide bombing and gunfire at a checkpost in Dera Ismail Khan resulted in 12 fatalities and 35 injuries. Additionally, on September 18, an attack during Friday prayers at the old police lines in Kohat claimed 21 lives and left over 100 others injured. These incidents highlight the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement personnel in the line of duty as they strive to maintain peace and security in the region.
