Suspect in murder of phone dealer allegedly sold his iPhone 12 for GH¢100

The Ghana Police Service has recovered an iPhone 12 belonging to 33-year-old Nana Yaw Kyere, a phone dealer from Kwame Nkrumah Circle, who went missing on September 22. Kyere's alleged kidnapping and murder have resulted in the arrest of three suspects: Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams, and Josiah Obodai. Tefe is accused of selling the victim's iPhone for GH¢100, with the buyer, Sunday Omeje, subsequently cautioned and detained for allegedly receiving the device dishonestly.

Police claim that Kyere left his home on September 19, but did not return. Preliminary investigations suggest he was lured to Tefe's residence in Teshie Agyebla by Adams. Tefe and Adams later confessed to their involvement, stating that Tefe attacked Kyere with a metallic object during a confrontation, causing injuries. Kyere was then moved to another room and left unattended, where he ultimately died.

The victim's body was allegedly transported in a Kia Morning vehicle to a location near the motorway on September 20 and subsequently dumped in a bush and set ablaze. Kyere's partially burnt remains were found at Community 18 on September 21. The three suspects remain in police custody and are due to appear in court as the investigation continues.

The police are also investigating the circumstances surrounding Kyere's death to identify and apprehend any additional individuals who may have been involved.
