Spurs news: Stephon Castle shades Knicks' MSG NBA Finals crowd

On Monday, the San Antonio Spurs held their annual media day, reflecting on their recent NBA Finals appearance. The Spurs had lost the series to the New York Knicks in five games, notably succumbing to a series of blown leads in Madison Square Garden. Despite the underwhelming atmosphere at MSG, guard Stephon Castle downplayed the crowd's impact on the outcome.

Castle stated, "It was underwhelming in that first game." He compared the New York crowd to the Oklahoma City audience, claiming the latter was louder. While the Spurs did secure a victory in Game 3 on the road, they ultimately faltered in subsequent games, losing the series 4-1. Castle's three-point shot in Game 3 proved crucial in staving off another Knicks comeback.

Nevertheless, the Spurs' strong performance against the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round showcased their poise and ability to handle high-pressure environments. The Spurs are set to begin their new season against Oklahoma City on October 20.
